Vibrant, Abundant, & Clear

Año Nuevo

These are my words for the year. In addition to choosing three words for the new year, I wrote out my personal Ins and Outs for the year. I have also been crafting my manifestation list and will be attending Danielle LaPorte’s vision building workshop on the lunar new year. I am choosing to celebrate both.

While the closing of the year brought comfort and connection, I am finding the collective start to the year to be quite challenging thus far. The Los Angeles fires, loss of a loved one, and the nuances of daily life in a human body have provided very little time to pause and ground. But hey, I’m doing the best I can everyday, and I am proud of myself for that.

NYE

This year, my partner and I celebrated New Year’s Eve by making tamales with my family. My mom is a Mexico native but hates cooking. She has her tamale place that she buys from each year for the holidays. Some of my extended family makes them annually around the holidays. I love them all; I’m kind of obsessed with tamales and rarely tire of them.

As someone who often contemplates life & death, I want to continue the tradition of tamales for the remainder of my life. My family is small and scattered; the concept of cultivating culture has become extremely important to me as a result. So, I embarked on the ritual of making tamales. It’s something I said I wanted to do almost every year but never got around to. I still don’t know the entire process, but I got through my first beginner’s lesson from Tia Sylvia. Next year, I’ll be a pro. 😏
